A gripe I hear often and share is the rapid change in equipment models. Some large manufacturers continuously change their designs [often by purchasing other companies and ratting their line - no R&D required and it knocks out a competitor]. They will try and tell you it's for technical advancement but I believe it is often a cheaper manufacturing option for them - not a price decrease for you, nor a quality improvement. This means your equipment is now obsolete - parts NLA - forcing you to update. We've fallen for these sales pitches too. The genuine gear [the equipment we try to market and support] becomes the industry standard because of its technical suitability and build quality. These elements are not prone to fashion / marketing slyness or management trickery of inbuilt obsolescence before their time. All equipment we manufacture uses standardised parts and componentry wherever possible. We try to stick to manufacturers specifications, whilst striving to improve our designs in a manner that allows retrofitting new components to existing systems. Easier for us when servicing equipment, easier for industry to service in-house.
